The CurlAura styling guide
The heat setting, curl timer and section size decide what kind of curl drops out of the chamber. Here's how to dial in exactly the look you want — and keep your hair healthy while you do it.
Match the heat to your hair type
Fine, damaged or colour-treated hair should always start at 150°C — it curls more easily than you think and needs the least heat. Normal hair sits happily at 170°C. Thick or coarse hair that never holds a curl is what 190°C is for; pair it with smaller sections so the heat reaches the middle of the strand.
Prep makes the curl
Start with completely dry, brushed-through hair — damp hair won’t set and can catch. Spray a heat protectant first, then work in 2–3cm sections roughly the width of two fingers. Too much hair in the chamber is the #1 reason curls come out loose.
Get a natural, salon finish
Alternate the curl direction with each section — curling away from your face at the front, then mixing directions through the back — so the curls blend instead of clumping into one ringlet. Let each curl cool in your palm for a few seconds before you let it drop; curls set as they cool, not while they’re hot. Finish with fingers, not a brush.
Battery & charging
Charge it fully with the included USB cable before first use — any phone charger or laptop port works. Off the cord it heats and curls anywhere; the auto shut-off protects the battery and your bag. Storage tip: let it cool completely before zipping it into a case.
Care for the ceramic barrel
Wipe the barrel and chamber with a soft, dry cloth once it’s fully cool — product build-up is what makes any hot tool grab and smell over time. Never rinse it under water and don’t use alcohol on the ceramic coating.
Who should skip it
Very long hair past the waist can be too much for the chamber in one pass — use smaller sections. Synthetic extensions and wigs should stay away from any heat tool unless they’re specifically heat-rated. And as with every heat styler: not for children.
